I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. A decade ago on a clear, sunny September morning, life as we Americans knew it changed forever. I remember pictures of the first plane hitting one tower.
The horror and shock from the direct hit was only a small part of of the terror that rocked our complacent world. Born from this shock was a strength and fury Americans will never forget. American flags flew from every pole and door. We were all Americans.
Ten years later, two wars, billions of U.S. dollars to foreign countries, loss of American lives, jobs outsorced to foreign countries we are confronted with more than $8 trillion in debt. Many people will forget the moment when Saddam and May 1 when Osama bin Laden were captured and killed. They were celebratory images but only lasted a moment. Most people have become complacent again.
They say it can’t happen again.
Except for our military, the veterans who were there to give us the freedom we take for granted.
It’s sad most won’t remember 5/1 but people of all ages will never forget that image of 9/11. That strength still rushes through our veins today. America will never forget.
The World Trade Center of tomorrow is half done. It will open in 2012. It will be a memorial of the past, a place to be proud of how Americans rallied since that day as we look to this beacon of freedom for our future.
Let us never forget 9/11, what they did to us so it won’t happen again. Remember to hang your flag out on 9/11.

6 cups leaf lettuce or mixed salad greens
4 cups cubed cooked turkey
2 cups chopped tomatoes
1 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped red onion
1/2 cup chopped peeled, seeded cucumber
2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup plain yogurt
1 cup Miracle Whip
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup red vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Toss vegetables, turkey and cheese in serving bowl. Whisk dressing ingredients and toss to coat.
Chill before serving.
