Lighthouse Christian Church is taking the opportunity honor first responders and military personnel during its Sept. 11 service. As the 10 year anniversary of the terrorist attacks lands on a Sunday, pastor Bill Goodwin thought it would be the most fitting way to remember the events of that day.

“We feel it’s really important to take the opportunity to honor first responders,” said Goodwin.

The services will feature patriotic music along with traditional Christian music. Goodwin said during the services they will pray blessings over both first responders and military folks in attendance. The church also will fly the flags of each branch of the military. Then Goodwin will share a sermon called “We Remember”.

“It’s a special message that’s been on my heart,” said Goodwin.

Goodwin has a special relationship to the date Sept. 11. It’s his wedding anniversary. But along with the fun memories of his wedding day several years before, he always makes sure to spend time reflecting on the fallen of Sept. 11, 2001.

“I think it’s important we remember and we share with our children what happened,” said Goodwin.

The service is open to anyone who wants to attend. For information visit worldwidelighthouse.com.
