Harry Potter camp is back
Popular Harry Potter camp will revolve around the final book the Deathly HallowsBy: Emily Zimmer, Rosemount Town Pages
Sara Aker loves Harry Potter, so a few years ago the Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department employee suggested the city host a Harry Potter camp.
Turns out there are a lot Harry Potter fans in Rosemount.
The camp, which will be held for the fourth time, has been one of the department's most popular camps. This year it will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. July 18 through July 21 at Central Park.
With the last movie in the series coming out on July 15, the camp will revolve around the final book, Deathly Hallows. The last book follows Harry, Ron and Hermione as they go back to Hogwarts to find and destroy Voldermort's final horcruxes. When Voldermort's discovers their plans, the battle begins.
"It should be a lot of fun," said Aker.
The kids who attend the camp will be broken into the various Hogwart's Houses and will get to take classes similar to those featured in the books. She said the staff enjoys the camp as much as the kids do.
"We're all pretty big fans so we get pretty into it," said Aker.
Kids will get to do activities, games and projects all with a Harry Potter theme including a game of Quidditch. Everyone will leave the camp with a wand.
A magical snack will be provided each day of camp. Kids should bring a water bottle to camp each day.
So far 18 people have registered. Aker said there is room for more but kids should register soon.
