An unoccupied car jumped gears and rolled into a power pole around 1:30 p.m. Friday, taking out the pole and knocking out power to at least one business.
The car was parked outside City Limits Lanes when the accident happened. According to employees at the bowling alley the driver had come inside to ask whether they had pinball. When he got back out to his car, it had rolled backward across the parking and down a hill into the pole.
According to Rosemount Police officer Tim Murphy the car wouldn't have hit the pole, but the wheels turned when it hit the curb at the far end of the edge of the lot.
Twenty minutes after the accident City Limits employees said they'd already turned away seven potential customers. They expected power to be out an additional hour.
