The Rosemount boys track and field team got four first-place finishes and showed more than enough depth up and down the lineup to walk away with the Minnesota State True Team tile Friday at Stillwater High School.
Rosemount scored 851 points in the event, which scores all participants in an effort to emphasize team depth. Eden Prairie was second with 827 points.
Rosemount won the day’s first event, the 4x800 relay, in 7:54.40 and got top finishes from the 4x400 relay, Andrew Hausmann in the 200-meter dash and Joe Bjorklund in the shot put.
The 4x400 relay edged second-place Stillwater by just over half a second.
Hausmann also took third in the 400-meter dash, third in the triple jump and seventh in the 100. Bjorklund was fourth in the discus, two spots behind teammate Brand Berghuis. Berghuis took fourth in the shot put.
The Irish got a second-place finish from Chandler Dye in the 800. They got a third-place finishes from Shane McCallum in the 1600 (4:21.38) and Sam Temple in the 800, a fourth from McCallum in the 3,200 and a fifth from the 4x100 relay.
Rosemount runners took fourth, fifth and sixth in the 3,200, with Nathan Rock and Calvin Lehn following McCallum, in that order.
The 4x200 relay took sixth, as did Tyler Henkemeyer in the 1,600, Goaner Deng in the 400-meter dash and Deng in the high jump.
