The days are getting longer but the cold still lingers, making it hard to get out and have some fun. The Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department hopes to offer at least a little break from the winter doldrums Feb. 18.

The Family Fun Festival will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rosemount Community Center. The annual event will include entertainment from the Alpha Bits, carnival games, jumpers and more, said the parks department's Tina Schwantes. There will be open ice skating from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Families must bring their own skates.

The free and popular event usually draws between 300 and 400 people to the community center. This is the fourth year the Rosemount Park and Recreation Department has put on the Family Fun Festival. Schwantes said the event is especially fun for younger children.

Each child will receive a goody bag and there will be snow cones available.

The event is free and no registration is required. For more information call 651-322-6000.
