Fourth and fifth graders at District 196 elementary schools showed off their problem-solving skills at Saturday morning's district inventors fair. The annual fair challenges students to create something that addresses a problem they see in the world around them.

This year's inventors came up with a list of creations that includes a heated tent for pets, a holder for books, a massage shirt and an apron that holds everything you'll need to set the table.

Pictured here, Shannon Park Elementary School student Jose Santos shows off his pencil holding glove, which he created because he was always dropping his pencils.
