Boys basketball: Irish edge Woodbury

Rosemount boys basketball coach Bryan Schnettler wanted to challenge his team early in the season with quality non-conference opponents.
The Irish have certainly been tested heading into this week’s tournament at Bethel University and they have passed the tests.
Rosemount beat Woodbury 69-68 last week for its third straight win. The Irish (3-1) compete this week in the Bethel tournament and open the South Suburban Conference schedule on Jan. 4 at Bloomington Jefferson.
Rosemount returns home for a game against Prior Lake on Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
It wasn’t easy against Woodbury, but the Irish came through with the one-point victory, holding on after entering halftime with a 30-24 lead.
Kevin Larson led Rosemount with 16 points. David Morgan added 13 points.
Alex Timmers scored nine points. Charlie Broback, Matt Nelson and Jeff Ruhl each scored eight points. Brandon Forcier added seven points.
