Former cop pleaded guilty to robberiesRosemount man will be sentenced for string of robberies he committed in Dakota County in December
Timothy Edward Carson, 29, of Rosemount, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Dakota County Court to five counts of first degree aggravated robbery and two counts of first degree attempted aggravated robbery in connection with a string of crimes he committed this past winter.
Two of the incidents occurred in Rosemount — a robbery at the Marathon Gas Station on Dec. 16 and an attempted robbery of a Rosemount woman outside her home Dec. 30.
“We intend to seek appropriate consequences for this brazen and violent criminal behavior committed by an officer sworn to uphold the law,” said county attorney James Backstrom.
In addition to the crimes committed in Dakota County, Carson, a former officer with the Minneapolis Police Department, has pleaded guilty in federal court to robbing an Apple Valley bank and other smaller crimes he committed in Hennepin County.
In August, Carson pled guilty in federal court to robbing a bank in Apple Valley. He received a 96-month sentence for the crime.
He also received a 10-year sentence for the crimes he committed in Hennepin County.
Carson will be sentenced for the Dakota County crimes Dec. 14.
