The Rosemount volleyball team recovered from early jitters in the first match of the season last week, earning a victory in five games against Faribault.
Three nights later, the Irish showed they are past their nervous stage.
Rosemount put together a more consistent effort in a 25-14, 25-9, and 25-17 win against Park late last week.
“We played steady, stayed consistent and stayed more focused,” Irish coach Smokey Vitek said. “We were more relaxed, which was good for us.”
The result led to a crisper offensive performance, with a .354 hitting percentage and only nine hitting errors as a team.
Elaine Warner had her second game without a hitting error, finishing with eight kills. She added three blocks.
Zoe Peterson had a team-high nine kills with two blocks. Ali Fromme added seven kills, three service aces, three blocks and a team-high 14 digs.
Mikaela Sullivan had 20 set assists and six service aces. Nicole Valentini had seven digs.
“We’re past the first-game hitters,” Vitek said. “They’re kind of in their groove now. They understand what they need to do. Even with a first-time coach, they just get nervous not knowing what you are going to say when things aren’t going well. I think we’re kind of past that.”
