Massey, Davis win four-mile races
Former Rosemount High School distance running standout Chris Massey defeated 194 other runners to take first place in Saturday’s Run for the Gold four-miler in Rosemount.
Former Rosemount High School distance running standout Chris Massey defeated 194 other runners to take first place in Saturday’s Run for the Gold four-miler in Rosemount.
Massey completed the race in 21 minutes, 51 seconds, 17 seconds ahead of runner-up Shane McCallum of Rosemount. Kyle Mills of Rosemount was third in 23:02, followed by Chandler Dye of Inver Grove Heights, who completed the race in 23:20. Chris Mergens of Farmington rounded out the top five in a time of 23:43.
Melissa Davis of Northfield was the top finisher among the 91 women in the race with a time of 29:15. Runner-up Diane Weyrens of Rosemount was just seven seconds back.
Ninety-three more runners competed in the one-mile run, which was won by Daniel Grannes of Apple Valley in a time of 5:02. Chris Anderson of Burnsville was second in 5:03 and Jason Schultz of Lakeville was third in 5:08.
Sara Hatleli of Rosemount won the women’s mile with a time of 6:05.
