Starting Friday Rosemount will be in full celebration mode for the next 10-days. Get out and enjoy the various events.
July 23
9:30 a.m.-noon
Puppets in the Park Puppet shows take place at Camfield Park at 9:30 a.m., Connemara Park at 10:15 a.m., Bloomfield Park at 11 a.m. and Jaycee Park at 11:45 a.m. Sponsored by Rosemount Parks and Recreation.
6-9 p.m.
Bluegrass and Americana weekend square dance Dance to music by Music by Light of the Moon. Irish and Appalachian clogging demonstrations. Sponsored by the Rosemount Area Arts Council.
6:30 p.m.
500 card tournament Rosemount Community Center rooms 206 and 208. Sponsored by Rosemount Area Seniors.
July 24
7 a.m.
Run for the Gold Registration starts at 7 at the Rosemount Community Center for 1- and 4-mile routes. Youth 8 and younger can participate in the half-mile Shamrock Sprint at no charge. Sponsored by Rosemount Parks and Recreation, America’s Fitness Center, Runner’s Gate, Life Wellness Center and Brugger’s Bagels.
10-11 a.m.
Thad’s Boot Camp Group fitness class at Central Park.
Noon-4 p.m.
Rods and Wrecks car show Classic cars and street rods on display at AAA Auto Salvage. Distracted driving demo by DCTC, air bag safety demo, tours of AAA Auto Salvage with a car crusher demo. Proceeds go to RAAA football.
3-4 p.m.
Celtic music Willow Brae will will perform at the Robert Trail Library.
5-9 p.m.
Bluegrass and Americana weekend concert and craft fair New North String Band, Singleton Street, Sawtooth and Tangled Roots will perform bluegrass music at Central Park. Vendors will sell crafts. Sponsored by the Rosemount Area Arts Council.
6:30 p.m.
Euchre card tournament Registration starts at 6:30 p.m., play at 7. Rosemount Community Center. Sponsored by Rosemount Area Seniors.
July 25
9:30-11 a.m.
Open skate for girls and RHS girls hockey alumni game Spend some time on the ice at Rosemount Arena, then watch the girls alumni game at 11.
11 a.m.
Wiffleball tournament Teams of 4-5 compete at the Rosemount High School baseball fields. Sponsored by Rosemount High School baseball.
11 a.m.-noon
Hamster and gerbil races Kids can bring their own hamster or rent one for this competition at Fluegel’s Farm, Garden and Pet.
1:30-3 p.m.
Open skate Free open skating at Rosemount Arena.
2:30 p.m.
Kiddie parade Kids can dress up and march in their own parade. Registration starts at 2:30 at the Rosemount American Legion. Parade starts at 3.
4-8 p.m.
Bluegrass and Americana weekend gospel sing and Medalist Concert Band The bluegrass weekend wraps up with a little church music on Sunday. The gospel sing will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Central Park, featuring local church choirs. Medalist Concert Band will perform at 7. Sponsored by the Rosemount Area Arts Council.

Medallion hunt Clues will be posted at 8 a.m. at Rosemount National Bank and online at www.rosemountbank.com. Continues until the medallion is found.

Dodgeball tournament Middle- and high school kids can compete at the Rosemount Community Center. Sponsored by Rosemount Parks and Recreation.
5-7 p.m.
Kids Dance For ages 12 and under at the Rosemount American Legion. Bring a food shelf item and/or a new pair of socks.
6 p.m.
3-on-3 boys basketball tournament Teams of three compete in one of four divisions at Rosemount High School. Teams in fifth- through eighth grades compete July 26, the rest July 28.
July 27
1-2 p.m.
Blarney Stone hunt Collect colored rocks to trade in for real money at Jaycee Park. A free concert by the Splatter Sisters follows. Sponsored by Rosemount Parks and Recreation.
2-3 p.m.
Captain Underpants Kids can celebrate the Captain Underpants books at the Robert Trail Library.
4-8 p.m.
An Afternoon in the Park with Cub and Friends Enjoy kids’ games, jumper houses, Kemps Moo Mobile and more at Central Park.
4:30-5:30 p.m.
Double Dutch jump-rope exhibition Check out the jump-rope skills of local youth at this performance by the Rosemount Elementary School Double Dutch club at Central Park.
6 p.m.
Bathtub races Three divisions of bathtub races with three-person teams at Central Park. Buy water balloons and soak friends and strangers. Sponsored by Lighthouse Christian Church.
July 28

Wet ‘n Wild Day Water games for kids at Jaycee Park. Participants must wear tennis shoes. Sponsored by Rosemount Parks and Recreation.

Family Bingo Bingo for all ages at the Rosemount American Legion. Anyone 18 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
4-7 p.m.
Kids coloring contest Coloring contest for kids at Rosemount Eye Clinic.

Community worship night A night for community churches to come together for ecumenical worship. There will be a meal served at 5:30 at Central Park, worship at 6 p.m. Sponsored by Community of Hope Church.

Youth fishing derby Registration and pre-fishing for the youth event will start at 9 a.m. at Schwarz Pond Park. Tournament fishing will run from 10 to 11 a.m. Sponsored by Rosemount Parks and Recreation.

Family Fun Night Amusement rides, food booths and games at Central Park. Local Irish band Legacy will perform at 6 p.m., teen bands at 8 p.m.

Lightin’ Up Family Block Party Take advantage of free food, prizes, kids’ games, live music and inflatables and world renowned ventriloquist Mark Thompson after the parade at Lighthouse Christian Church.
