The Rosemount girls track and field team continually gave coach Sara Hatleli something to share after meets this season.

After most meets this season, Hatleli was pleased to announce the Irish had placed better in individual meets than they had in several years. It became a recurring theme.

They kept the string going until the end.

In the end, it allowed Hatleli to easily summarize the season.

“We had a fantastic year, the best we have had in many years,” she said. “Finishing second in the Lake Conference and eighth at the state meet is something to be very proud of.”

Along the way, Rosemount was also fourth at the season-ending section meet. The team was third in the section True Team meet.

Shade Pratt, Katie Murgic, Alyssa Temte, Laura Dennis, Thana Hussein and Tori Grund were all-conference honorees.

Hannah Buecksler, Ashley McDonald, Anansa Greenfield, Sara Feeser, and Natalie Busher were all-conference honorable mention.

Murgic, Pratt, Temte, Dennis, Hussein, Feeser and Grund earned all-state honors, as well as academic all-state recognition.

Records were also broken along the way.

Murgic set a new school record by clearing 12 feet in the pole vault. Murgic and Pratt were the team’s MVP winners. Pratt was the Most Valuable Sprinter, while Murgic was the Most Valuable Field Event award winner.

Pratt joined Grund, Dennis and Feeser in breaking the school’s 4x800 relay mark with a time of 9 minutes, 20.18 seconds. Grund, Pratt, Dennis and Hussein set a new school record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:56.88.

Alyssa Temte set a new school record in the triple jump, with a distance of 36 feet, 3.75 inches. She was the team’s Most Valuable Hurdler winner.

Grund was the team’s Most Valuable Distance Runner. Buecksler won the award for Most Valuable Thrower. Busher won the team’s Irish Award.

“We have a lot of high-end returning athletes for next year,” Hatleli said. “So, I’m hoping for another great season.”
