Got some little ones who need to get their wiggles out? The Rosemount Parks and Recreation department will offer the Music in the Parks series again this summer and it’s the perfect event to burn off some energy.
Supervisor Lacelle Cordes said the city will offer a variety of family friendly performers for the long standing summer staple. Cordes said the city has sponsored Music in the Park for more than 20 years.
“It’s directed toward the daycare crowd,” she added.
The six-week series will feature artists such as Wiggle Jiggle and Jam, the Alpha Bits and the Splatter Sisters. Most of the concerts will be held in the Central Park Amphitheater. The Splatter Sisters performance is the only exception. They will perform at Jaycee Park after the Blarney Stone Hunt, which is part of the city’s annual Leprechaun Days.
While most of the events will be geared toward kids, the South of the River Community Band will perform at 7 p.m. June 24. That is the only evening performance scheduled as part of the Music in the Park series.
The concerts are free and open to the public. Cordes encouraged folks to bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy live music.
“It’s a great event that the city can offer free of charge,” said Cordes.
In addition to the Music in the Park series the city also will offer three movies at the Central Park Amphitheater over the summer. The city will show “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” June 19; “The Blindside” July 17 and “Princess and the Frog” Aug. 21.
The movies are free and will begin at dusk.
