Coach Sara Hatleli believes the Rosemount girls track and field team might have finished as high as third place at past True Team section meets.
Something stood out to Hatleli after the Irish placed third in the competition this season.
Rosemount scored 939 points at last week’s True Team section meet. Prior Lake won the meet with 990 points. Eastview was second with 941.5 points.
“I would say that was the best meet of the season,” Hatleli said. “It was probably one of the best meets as a team we’ve had in many years.”
Prior Lake and Eastview have been among the top ranked teams this season. Suddenly, the Irish aren’t far behind.
“We knew we had the talent and if we put it all together at the same meet we would get good results,” Hatleli said. “I think we put our best foot forward and it shows we can compete with the best teams in the state.”
Rosemount’s Shade Pratt and Katie Murgic finished 3-4, respectively, in the 100-meter dash. Murgic was fourth in the 200.
Pratt won the 400 and 800. Tori Grund was fourth in the 1,600 and the 3,200.
Rosemount was second in the 4x800 with Laura Dennis, Sara Feeser, Amanda Newman and Ellen Fischer teaming up.
Natalie Busher won the high jump, with Dennis tying for third. Alyssa Temte finished third in the long jump and Murgic placed fourth.
Temte was second in the triple jump and Murgic won the pole vault.
Anansa Greenfield placed second in the shot put with Hannah Buecksler taking third.
