Rosemount residents interested in serving on the Rosemount City Council have two weeks to get their names on the ballot. The filing period for the November election opens May 18 and runs through June 1.

The Rosemount City Council instituted a primary election this year after 26 candidates filed for local office in 2008. The primary election would only be used if there are more than two candidates for each available seat.

There are three council positions up for election this year. The terms of mayor Bill Droste and council members Mark DeBettignies and Kim Shoe-Corrigan all expire at the end of the year.

To submit their name for the election potential candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy and pay a filing fee at Rosemount City Hall.
