As the season was winding down for the Rosemount boys hockey team, Irish coach Scott Macho was just looking finish strong.
After dealing with injuries and inconsistency throughout the season, Rosemount was finally able to start piecing together the lineup expected at the beginning of the season.
The Irish then won their opening playoff game at Henry Sibley. It was a much needed relief for a team that had won just one game in over two months.
Rosemount (3-23, 0-19 Lake) eventually lost to the section’s top seed, Eagan, ending a disappointing season for a team that was unable to find any momentum.
Playing in the Lake Conference can have that effect. The Irish were 3-4 outside of the perennially tough conference.
Senior captain Andrew Anderson led the way with a team-high eight goals and 10 assists.
Senior Sam Bishop was third on the team with 12 points (three goals, nine assists).
Yet there might be hope for the future as underclassmen were among the top scorers as well.
Junior Jared Newman had six goals and eight assists. Sophomore Josh Loew had four goals and five assists, while junior Brady Loew ended with six goals and three assists. Junior Mike Cossalter had five goals and three assists.
Junior goaltenders Justin Frank and Hank Fairchild shared time with Franks with both saving 85 percent of the shots faced.
