Irish swimmers send several to state
The Rosemount boys swimming and diving team won its section meet over the weekend and will send three relays and six individuals to the Minnesota State Swimming and Diving Meet that will take place March 4 and 6 at the University of Minnesota.
The Rosemount boys swimming and diving team won its section meet over the weekend and will send three relays and six individuals to the Minnesota State Swimming and Diving Meet that will take place March 4 and 6 at the University of Minnesota.
The Irish will be represented by the 200 medley and 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams and by swimmers Connor Manning, Max Hubbard, Devon Meeks, David Officer, Braden McCormack and Jacob Stern.
Meeks, a senior, qualified in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Hubbard, also a senior, qualified in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Manning, a sophomore, will compete in the 50 freestyle; Officer, a senior, will swim the 100 butterfly; McCormack, a sophomore, will compete in the 100 backstroke; and Stern, a sophomore, will compete in the 100 breaststroke.
The medley relay team consists of Meeks, Hubbbard, Manning, McCormack, Tony Spiel and Luke Dowell. The 200 freestyle relay team is Hubbard, Dowell, Officer, Meeks, Manning, Nick Jeffrey, David Baker and Michael Young. The 400 freestyle relay team is Meeks, Jeffrey, Spiel, Young, Dowell, Hubbard, Manning and Baker.
In addition to the swimming success coach Jim Ertl was named Region 3AA swim coach of the year.
