Irish drop a pair

The Rosemount girls hockey team has lost three of its past four games after a pair of losses during the past week. Late last week, the Irish dropped a 4-2 decision at Lakeville North. On Tuesday it was a 5-3 loss at home to Eden Prairie.

The Rosemount girls hockey team has lost three of its past four games after a pair of losses during the past week.

Late last week, the Irish dropped a 4-2 decision at Lakeville North. On Tuesday it was a 5-3 loss at home to Eden Prairie.

In the loss to Lakeville North, Rosemount (4-4-1, 3-2-1 Lake) was outshot 44-17 by the Panthers. Irish goaltender Caitlin Dantzscher made 40 saves before Lakeville North added an empty-net goal.

Kayla Goehring and Allison Warweg gave Rosemount a 2-0 lead with goals in the second period, but the Panthers scored four times in the third.

Goehring opened the scoring unassisted on the power play. Sarah Tollefson assisted on Warweg’s goal.

Against Eden Prairie, the Irish trailed 2-0 and could never recover.

Kendra Goodrich, Taylor Sampson and Tollefson tallied goals. Rachael Kelly, Rachel Vath, and Warweg had assists.

Dantzscher made 17 saves as her team outshot the Eagles 31-22.

Rosemount hosts Burnsville tomorrow. On Tuesday, the Irish host Eagan before participating in a Farmington tournament from Dec. 28-30.
