August 22
Family fun shoot
Pheasants Forever’s ninth annual family fun shoot will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Dakota County Gun Club in Rosemount. More than 300 youth and 300 adults took part in last year’s event. Youth activities at this year’s event include trap shooting and laser shot, archery and bow fishing, dog training, ATV safety, wildlife painting and photography, waterfowl calling and more.

Make-a-wish breakfast
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar, 15015 Cimmaron Ave., will host a fundraiser pancake breakfast and silent auction for the Make-A-Wish Foundation from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 22.
August 24
Arts at the library
The Rosemount Area Arts Council will present “The Fun of Art” 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 24 at the Rosemount Robert Trail Library. Kids ages 3 and up can enjoy face painting, art projects, and more. Free to the public.
Teen advisory group meeting
Teens interested in having a say in some of the choices made at the Robert Trail Library can attend an informational meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 24 about a new teen advisory group at the library.
Teens may pick up applications there or ahead of time at the reference desk.
TAG will help the library choose materials for the teen section of the library, help with teen programming and other volunteer type work.

Tuesday in the garden
The Dakota County Master Gardeners will offer classes every Tuesday evening 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through the summer at 1605 160 St. W. in Rosemount.
On Aug. 25 the topic will be Stepping Stones taught by Joyce Clarin. Cost is $25.
August 27
Coffee with a cop
Officers of the Rosemount Police Department will be available to answer questions at various coffee shops within the community from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
On Aug. 27 an officer will be at Morning Glory’s, 14590 S. Robert Trail.
September 3
Coffee with a cop
Officers of the Rosemount Police Department will be available to answer questions at various coffee shops within the community from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
On Sept. 3 an officer will be at Starbucks, 14903 S. Robert Trail.
September 8
Ames Soccer Complex opens
A dedication ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 8 for the new Ames Soccer Complex on the Dakota County Technical College campus.
In addition to the ceremony the Blue Knights women’s and men’s soccer teams will face the Iowa Western Community College Reivers on the championship field of the brand new Ames Soccer Complex, which was built through a partnership between DCTC and the city of Rosemount with in-kind service from Ames Construction. The men play at 2 p.m. and the women play at 4:05 p.m.
Representatives from Rosemount, Ames Construction and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system will be present.
September 10
Grandparents at the library
The Robert Trail Library will host Hooray for Grandparents 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 10. Kids can enjoy stories celebrating grandparents and then have fun making a gift for a grandparent.
The event is open to all ages.
September 12
Septemberfest at DCTC
Dakota County Technical College will host Septemberfest 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 12. The annual event will feature a variety of events including live music, a classic car show, a volleyball tournament, a 5K run, kids games, a petting zoo, arts and crafts, food and more.
The event is free.
Waggin’ tales therapy dogs
Curl up with a gentle dog, read a book that you love and improve your reading skills 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 at the Robert Trail Library. All ages can attend. Participants are asked to pre-register at the library.
