After opening the season without its full lineup in a loss at Hastings, and then competing in a doubles tournament, the Rosemount boys tennis team was finally able to get into a regular schedule the past week.
The Irish’s roster has settled, for the most part. And with three matches during the past week, it allowed the opportunity for Rosemount to get into a groove.
Last week, the Irish posted their first victory with a 4-3 win at Prior Lake.
Rosemount won three singles matches and earned one victory in doubles.
At No. 1 singles, Chase Vogler won 6-3, 6-1. Matt Baker won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles and Stuart Hatlen pulled out a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles.
Skylar Milne and Jason Warweg provided the doubles win with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 decision at first doubles.
This week followed with matchups against quality teams Eagan and Chaska, both 7-0 losses for the Irish.
Against Eagan, Matt Baker and Stuart Hatlen managed to win games in singles play. Will Holcomb and Brandon Clobes at No. 2 doubles, and Thanh Vo and Sean Hatlen at third doubles won games.
On Wednesday, Rosemount hosted Chaska in the first home meet of the season, and while the results were closer, the Irish weren’t able to come out on top.
Milne, playing No. 4 singles, went to a third set before falling 6-4, 3-6, 3-6.
Each of the doubles pairings were within two to three games, but the Irish couldn’t close out a victory.
Rosemount hosts Bloomington Jefferson on April 17.
