Irish boys hoopsters lose in first round

The Rosemount boys basketball team didn't make the postseason run it was hoping for. The Irish's season ended with a 74-59 loss to Burnsville in the first round of the section tournament.

The Rosemount boys basketball team didn't make the postseason run it was hoping for. The Irish's season ended with a 74-59 loss to Burnsville in the first round of the section tournament.

Rosemount was the No. 6 seed in the Class 4A, Section 3 tournament and was forced to play the No. 3 seed Blaze at Burnsville.

Burnsville entered halftime with a 41-28 lead and cruised from there.

Zach Vraa led the Irish in scoring with 16 points. Garrett Glaus added 10.

Other Rosemount scorers were: Justin Larson 9, Chase Vogler 7, Trenton Thompson 6, Jack Pauly 4, Karl Miranda 3, Chris Couillard 2, and Matt Larson 2.

Top-seed Lakeville North lost on its home floor to No. 8 seed Park in a 72-59 final.

No. 2 seed Eastview and No. 4 seed Apple Valley also advanced to the semifinals, which are Tuesday at St. Olaf.
