With the Lake Conference season quickly winding down to a finish, the Rosemount girls hockey team won a pair of games last week.
The Irish beat Bloomington Jefferson, 4-2, and Apple Valley, 8-3, in Lake Conference action.
Rosemount (9-8-1,5-7 Lake) now sits in the middle of the conference race.
Four teams — Burnsville, Eden Prairie, Chaska and Rosemount — each had five conference victories. Lakeville South is in fourth place in the conference with a 6-3-1 record. Lakeville North is 7-2-1. Eastview owns the top spot with a 9-0-1 record, and No. 13-ranked Eagan is right behind at 10-1-0.
Saturday, the Irish have to travel to conference-leading Eastview.
The Rosemount offense, and leading-scorer Rachael Kelly, were on display last week.
Against Apple Valley, the Eagles took a lead just eight seconds into the game.
Allison Micheletti scored two minutes into the first period and the teams went into the first intermission tied, 1-1.
Kayla Goehring scored 1:48 into the second, but Apple Valley and Rosemount traded goals during much of the second.
Tied 2-2, Taylor Sampson scored for the Irish. Tied 3-3, Kelly scored her first of the game.
Rosemount then scored four times in the third with Sampson and Kelly each scoring twice to finish off hat tricks. Kelly also had two assists.
Desiree Goret made 11 saves in goal for the Irish.
Rosemount started quickly against Bloomington Jefferson with three straight goals in the first.
Goehring opened the scoring, followed by Sampson and Kelly.
Jefferson scored before the end of the first period and added goal in the second to make it a one-goal affair entering the third.
But Kelly added her second of the game to clinch the victory.
Micheletti had two assists. Goret made 12 saves for the win.
