A week ago, Rosemount boys hockey coach Scott Macho talked about losing five one-goal games in a row, and the frustration that accompanies such close losses.

It’s even harder for a team still waiting to notch that first victory.

After the past two games, that frustration can only be mounting.

The Irish lost another one-goal game — their sixth in a row — 4-3 at Lakeville South.

On Tuesday, Rosemount hosted Lakeville North and finally there was a bit of a change.

Just not the one the Irish (0-11, 0-7 Lake) and their followers were hoping for.

The Panthers beat the Irish, 6-2.

And the road doesn’t get any easier for Rosemount. The Irish travel to No. 4 Eden Prairie on Saturday.

Rosemount hopes the Lake Conference game with the Eagles is different from the past two against the Lakeville schools.

The Irish jumped on the scoreboard first against Lakeville North on Tuesday.

Brady Loew scored 10:55 in the first with assists going to Andrew Anderson and Andrew Comstock.

But the Panthers then reeled off six straight goals over the next period and a half.

It would remain a 6-1 game until Loew struck again 12:54 in the third period. Again, it was Anderson and Comstock getting assists.

Jason Date did stop all 16 shots he faced for Rosemount in goal in relief of starter Hank Fairchild, but the Irish were outshot 48-29 in the game.

Against Lakeville South, Grant Weierke, Nolan Wise and Jared Newman scored for Rosemount. Anderson tallied two assists during the loss.
