FOOTBALL: Irish beat Lakeville South in season opener

The start to the 2008 season for Rosemount's football team couldn't have been much better.

The Irish beat Lake Conference rival Lakeville South 17-14 in Lakeville to get off on the right foot this season.

New quarterback Chase Vogler, who played wide receiver last year, found one of his favorite targets, Zach Vraa, for a 6-yard touchdown pass with under a minute to play to life the Irish to a 3-point victory.

Earlier in the game, Vogler connected with Garrett Glaus on a touchdown pass. Joey Broback's field goal account for Rosemount's other points.

One year ago in Rosemount, the Cougars spoiled the Irish season opener. This year, Rosemount returned the favor.
