Woman charged with taking drug-buy cash

Police say money meant to make a controlled drug buy instead went into the pants of the Rosemount woman they recruited to help them with an investigation.

According to a complaint filed last week in the Dakota County Attorney's office Dakota County Drug Task Force members provided 24-year-old Anna Mae Richardson with $800 in April to make a controlled buy of methamphetamine from a suspected drug dealer in Janesville. But Richardson returned with no money and no drugs. Richardson told police she'd bought methamphetamine with the money, but the suspected seller denied selling her anything.

Richardson later admitted she'd "crotched" the money, which is exactly what it sounds like.

Richardson told police she'd used the money to pay several bills.

If convicted on a fifth degree controlled substance charge Richardson could face up to 10 years in jail and fines of up to $20,000.
