Matt Huerta fund-raiser

Rosemount American Legion Post 65 will host a fund-raiser dinner, silent auction and bake sale from 3 to 9 p.m. June 14. Proceeds will go to Matt Huerta, the Rosemount resident who was injured May 1 during an armed robbery at Trail Liquor in Inver Grove Heights. The Legion is located at 14590 Burma Ave.

Twins baseball clinic

The Minnesota Twins will offer free baseball and softball clinics for boys and girls ages 6 to 16 at 10 a.m. June 14 at Jaycee Park. In the event of rain the clinics will be moved to the Rosemount Community Center.

There will be two 90-minute sessions, the first for kids 6 to 9 and the second for kids 10 to 16. The second session will start at 11:30.

Document destruction day

Rosemount National Bank will hold a document destruction day from 9 a.m. until noon June 14. Rosemount residents and business owners are invited to bring old confidential documents to the bank's parking lot, where a truck will be on hand to destroy them. The service is free. Refreshments will be served. The bank is located at 15055 Chippendale Ave.

June 16

Landfill open house

SKB Environmental will host an informational poster session starting at 5 p.m. June 16 to present information about a proposed expansion of the landfill, located on the city's east side. The meeting will be held in room 1-520B at Dakota County Technical College. For more information call John Domke at 651-224-6329.

Last team captain meeting

The last Relay for Life of Rosemount Team Captain meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 18 at Central Park. During the meeting team captains can turn in fund-raising dollars and also pick up their team's Relay for LIfe t-shirts for this year' Relay event on June 20.

UMore open house

The University of Minnesota's vision for a new community on it's 5,000-acre Umore Park property in Dakota County moves to the next phase with the June presentation of concept scenarios that offer visuals of what the property might look like over 25 to 30 years.

Options for the jointly managed 2,822-acre natural area called Vermillion Highlands will also be on view, under the auspices of the Department of Natural Resources and the U, in conjunction with Dakota County.

Forums will be held at from 5:30 to 9 p.m. June 19 at the Rosemount Community Center.

Health care information session

Arc Greater Twin Cities will hold a free forum about Special Needs BasicCare, Minnesota's new managed health care program, from 1 to 3 p.m. June 19 at MRCI, 15191 Boulder Ct. in Rosemount.

Special Needs BasicCare is a voluntary program for people ages 18-64 with disabilities. The forum will answer basic questions about the program to help people determine whether participation is right for them.

Participants should register in advance by calling Arc at 952-920-0855.

Relay for Life

The Rosemount community is invited to attend the Relay for Life of Rosemount being held on June 20-21 at Central Park in downtown Rosemount. Remember to bring lawn chairs for amphitheater seating for the opening ceremony starting at 6 p.m. Luminaria ceremony will be at 10 p.m. and closing ceremony will be at 6:00 a.m. on June 21st. All are welcome.

Dakota County demographics event

The Dakota County Social Leader Action Network and the Dakota County Office of Planning and Development will co-host a free event on an updated profile of Dakota County demographics. The workshop will give nonprofits the opportunity to learn about external trends affecting the lives of citizens living in the county. The event will be held at the Rosemount Community Center June 24 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. RSVP by June 17 by calling Diane Tran 651-789-0036. Space is limited.
