Two endorsed for 57B race
Local Democrats and Republicans have endorsed their candidates for this November’s election.
First-term Representative Anna Wills, R-Apple Valley, was endorsed by acclimation Saturday at the District 57 GOP Convention, unanimously earning the Republican backing to run for a second term in the Minnesota legislature.
Wills is currently serving her first term in the legislature representing District 57B, which covers Rosemount, Coates, and portions of Apple Valley. She was first elected in 2012, earning more than 53 percent of the vote.
On the other side of the ballot, Denise Packard has accepted the unanimous endorsement for State Representative of DFL’s Senate District 57B. Packard, a 57-year old self- described “soccer grandma” said when life gave her challenges, her family, friends and neighbors were there for her. She views this as an opportunity to give back.
Packard, a practicing registered nurse for over 20 years, knows her education and experience will bring a wealth of knowledge and fresh ideas to the Minnesota House.
The candidate is looking forward to her grassroots style of campaigning and encourages residents to get involved, offer opinions and start a discussion with her.
