Tim Wynes will serve as interim DCTC President
Inver Hills Community College President Tim Wynes will serve as the interim president of Dakota County Technical College effective July 1. The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees made the announcement today.
Wynes will serve as the president of both institutions while a permanent replacement is sought for current DCTC president Ron Thomas. According to a press release from MNSCU, the search for a permanent replacement will begin this fall.
Thomas announced his intent to retire in late March. He will step down July 1. Thomas has served as president of DCTC for 13 years.
Wynes has served as president of IHCC since 2010. Before his tenure at IHCC, he served as chancellor of the Iowa Valley Community College District from 2002 to 2010. Additionally, he served as executive dean of grants and governmental affairs at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa from 1996 to 2002.
Of the appointment, MNSCU chancellor Steven Rosenstone said, "Tim Wynes is an outstanding leader who works effectively with community leaders, elected officials, area business and industry, and public schools and is deeply committed to Dakota and Scott counties. DCTC and Inver Hills have entered into some very exciting and productive joint initiatives for customized training and continuing education that have resulted in cost savings and improved service to students and the community. The appointment of Tim Wynes will ensure the continuity of these activities, ensure a smooth transition from one administration to the next, and help the college recruit a stellar new president."
