The Rosemount boys tennis team didn’t build up momentum for this week’s section team tournament, dropping its final two regular season matches last week.

The Irish fell 5-2 last Tuesday at Apple Valley, and then returned home for a 6-1 loss to Burnsville on Wednesday.

All three wins came in singles play. Against the Eagles, victories came in the top two spots from No. 1 player Anshul Bharath (7-6 (7-4), 6-3) and No. 2 Matt Simmering (6-2, 7-5). The Irish adjusted their singles lineup against the Blaze and newcomer Thomas Huffstutler came through with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 decision at No. 3 singles.

“We changed our lineup to practice for team sections, coach Dana Beck said. “Thomas Huffstutler played great.”
