Superintendent gets a 2 percent raise
Independent School District 196 superintendent Jane Berenz will get a 2 percent raise effective July 1 that will bring her salary to $195,840.
The new contract approved Monday also includes a 2 percent increase in the district's contribution for health care expenses and the addition of tuition reimbursement of up to $500 per semester hour earned should Berenz choose to go back to school.
This week's contract vote came after board members completed an evaluation of Berenz's performance during a workshop meeting last week. That evaluation assessed performance in areas including teaching and learning, early-learning development and partnerships between the district and other organizations.
"The outcome of Jane's evaluation was very positive," board chair Rob Duchscher said Monday. "The board is very happy with the direction we're on and with the overall progress the district continues to make."
Berenz is currently in the second year of a two-year contract.
