Snowmobile safety class is Dec. 4
The Rosemount Sno Toppers will host snowmobile safety training Dec. 4. The Rosemount snowmobile club puts on the class once each winter so locals can get their safety certificate, which is required by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to operate a snow mobile for everyone born after Dec. 31, 1976.
While some of the information is dry, club president Jerry Tompkins said it's important that kids have a good understanding of the safety and mechanics involved with the sport.
In addition to providing the class each year the Sno-Toppers take care of area trails.
The club grooms 25 miles of local trails around Rosemount. The extensive trail system starts in downtown Rosemount and goes all the way to Coates along 160th. The trails along 160th are one way. Most of the trails open Dec. 1.
Children of Sno Toppers members will be accepted first. Students must be at least 12 year old. The class will begin at 8 a.m. and go into the afternoon. Location to be announced.
