Small fire breaks out at Flint Hills refinery
Crews put out a small fire at Flint Hills Resources during the early morning hours of Friday May 30. The fire started about 1:15 a.m. and was swiftly contained by the refinery's fire crew.
"Our folks took care of it pretty quickly," said Flint Hills public relations manager John Hoffland.
Hoffland said a seal in a pump broke and caused the fire. He said the company will continue to investigate to make sure there is no further need for concern.
No one was injured during the incident and there was no off site impact. Hoffland said the Rosemount Volunteer Fire Department was not called to assist.
Flint Hills Resources is a refinery that provide gas throughout the Midwest. The Rosemount plant is located off of United States Highway 52 on Rosemount's east side.
