Senior project clears hurdle
The Rosemount Senior Living Associates project took a step forward Tuesday night, as the Rosemount Port Authority approved the sale of the land on which the project will be built.
Rosemount Senior Living Associates plans to build a 90-unit senior housing project on the corner of 143rd Street West and South Robert Trail, on the former St. Joseph School site. The assisted living facility will include memory care and long-term care units. Additionally, the city will build a 10,000 sq. ft. activity center that will adjoin the facility. The port authority sold the property for $1.
A public hearing was held before the port authority approved the sale of the land. No one spoke.Community development director Kim Lindquist said the city has been seeking a private developer to build a senior living project on the property for years. Lindquist said staff believes the project is consistent with the city’s goals for downtown and will bring more life cycle housing into Rosemount.
At their last meeting, the Rosemount Port Authority approved the sale of another piece of property south on Highway 3 for an independent senior living complex being built by Dakota County Community Development Agency.
Construction on the Rosemount Senior Living Associate project is expected to begin early this summer.
