Sandwich shop is doing good business so far
Ten years ago Dan Balach received a gift certificate to Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches. He was looking to buy into a franchise and when he tried Jimmy John’s he knew he had found the one.
He brought the idea back to his business partner Liz Lang and together they opened a franchise in Bloomington. Over the years they have added stores in Burnsville, Apple Valley and most recently Rosemount.
“We look forward to becoming part of the Rosemount community,” said Balach.
The Rosemount franchise opened in mid-November. The store has seating for 57 people. Balach said the store has been busy since it opened.
“We’ve had good traffic,” he said.
Jimmy John’s offers subs so fast you’ll freak, according to marketing manager Sarah Meuth. The restaurant prides itself on fresh bread that is never more than four hours old. Restaurant staff slices the meats, cheeses and vegetables fresh daily.The restaurant also offers catering services including party platters, box lunches and party subs up to six feet.Jimmy John’s has an interesting genesis. According to the company’s website Jimmy John Liautaud started the restaurant chain in 1983 at the age of 19. Armed with cookbooks checked out from the local library, Liautaud perfected his award-winning bread and developed four sandwiches. After getting praise from his family and friends, Liautaud opened his first restaurant.To help promote his restaurants, he hit the streets with arms full of sandwiches. His sandwiches developed a following and the fact that he delivered helped drive the success. Nationwide there are now more than 1,700 Jimmy John’s restaurants. Balach said most of those are franchise owned.Balach said Jimmy John’s is a good company that offers a quality food made quickly.Jimmy John’s is located at 15088 Claret Ave. The store is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
