The Rotary Club of Rosemount is pleased to announce Rosemount High School senior Andre Nelson as its September 2013 Student of the Month.
Nelson has lived in Rosemount for 12 years with his family and younger siblings. He is an excellent student with a rigorous course schedule that includes many AP and college-level classes, which should allow him to earn college credits equivalent to 1 ½ years of college coursework.
Outside the classroom, Nelson is a varsity basketball player, plays the trumpet and has earned Outstanding Musicianship awards through the Rosemount Band program. He is also an accomplished watercolor artist and illustrator who will be illustrating a Chuck Brooks children's book called, “Twas the Night Before Christmas in Rosemount.” The book will be published this winter.
One of Nelson’s passions is leadership. He is the Rosemount High School Student Council president, the National Honor Society president, and the National French Honor Society president. Andre states he appreciates his peers trusting him to lead and enjoys establishing a vision for the organizations in which he participates.
After graduating from Rosemount High School, Nelson plans to study psychology and neuroscience in college. He has not made a final decision about which college he will attend.
When not studying or volunteering in Rosemount, Nelson enjoys spending time at his family’s cabin on Green Lake in Spicer.
