Rosemount's police chief finalists announced
The Rosemount City Council has narrowed its field of police chief candidates to three. The finalists for the job are Mark Elliott, a commander with the Bloomington Police Department; Richard Schroeder, a sergeant with the Dakota County Sheriff's Department and current Rosemount Fire Chief and Mitchell Scott, a captain with the Apple Valley Police Department.
"Overall we had a pretty strong field," said Rosemount City Administrator Dwight Johnson.
Johnson said the city received 17 applications for the position. On June 26, a panel consisting of Johnson, assistant city administrator Emmy Foster, several members of the Rosemount Police Department and area community leaders interviewed seven of the applicants. Johnson said the panel recommended three finalists to the council and they approved the list July 1.
The public will have the chance to meet the three finalists from 4 to 5:30 p.m. July 8 in the city council chambers, 2875 145th St. W. The council will interview each of the candidates indvidually that evening. Johnson said a final decision will be made at a future city council meeting.
"I encourage the public to come out and meet our finalists," said Johnson. He added that a comment box will be available for residents to leave their opinions.
