Rosemount teams fare well at DI global competition
One year after winning a Destination ImagiNation global title, a team of Rosemount Middle School seventh graders has brought home another impressive finish.
The group, which calls itself TGIDI, finished third over the weekend at the DI global finals in Knoxville, Tenn. They earned 350.61 points in the Project Outreach category, which challenges students to put on an event that raises money and awareness for a cause. A team from Frisco, Texas, won this year's title.
TGIDI held a swim marathon earlier this year that raised more than $10,000 for muscular dystrophy research.
TGIDI team members are Anna Wise, Anna Peterson, Katie Turner, Lizzie Johnson, Dana Thibodeau and Maggie Moeller.
They weren't the only local team competing in Tennessee. A Shannon Park Elementary School team calling itself Argentina Apples tied for 28th place in the Solar Stage category. The students had to create and present a theatrical performance that tells a story about the use of solar energy. They had to work in research about uses of solar energy and provide theatrical lighting for the presentation.
The Argentina Apples scored 278.73 points. The winning team from Singapore scored 385.85.
The members of the Argentina Apples are Jonathan Wise, Sam Powell, Brett Pettit, Lucian Westbrock, Jake Simons, Ben Christiansen and Charlie Johnson.
