Rosemount 4x800 sets school record at Nationals
The Rosemount 4x800 relay team of Chandler Dye, Chris Mergens, John Evenocheck, and Sam Temple competed in the New Balance High School Nationals June 17 in Greensboro, N.C. The foursome hit the qualifying time at the Class 2A State Meet June 11 when it finished third in 7 minutes, 50.99 seconds to beat the qualifying standard by one-one hundredth of a second.
Competing in the first of two heats of the Championship Division, the relay finished third of 10 teams with a school record 7:49.17. Overall, the team placed 11th. In heat 2, Long Beach Poly (California) broke the national record.
The previous school record was 7:51.47 set in 2006 by Tim Kojetin, Obai Hussein, Kyle Rosseau and Jordan Carlson. The new time ranks ninth all-time in the state of Minnesota.
