RHS band tops again

The Rosemount High School marching band came out ahead of bands from Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota at last Saturday's Pursuit of Excellence Marching Band Competition in Marshall.

The Irish band was named sweepstakes grand champion and took home caption awards for outstanding brass, outstanding woodwinds, outstanding concert percussion, outstanding color guard, outstanding drum majors, outstanding visual and outstanding music.

This is the second win in as many competitions for the Irish, the two-time defending state champion marching band.

Bands from Sioux Falls, S.D.-area high schools took second, third and fifth place. A band from Orange City, Iowa, was fourth. The next best MInnesota band was Champlin Park, which finished 10th.
