Residents asked to help monitor peddler activity
The Rosemount Police Department is looking for help ensuring safe business practices are followed. City code allows for peddlers and solicitors to conduct business by going door-to-door.
Usually, businesses follow city code. Citizens can help the police department by reporting peddlers and solicitors who are suspected of not being compliant or are creating a nuisance for residents.
Peddlers and solicitors are allowed to sell their goods or services in Rosemount by going from door to door. Residents who do not want such entrepreneurs to knock on their doors should place a printed placard or sign reading “Peddlers and Solicitors Prohibited” on or near the usual entrance to their home.
Under Rosemount code, peddlers and solicitors must obtain a permit. The permits are valid from January 1-December 31 of the year issued. All licensed peddlers and solicitors must carry a copy of the license and ID badge issued by the city and conduct their business between of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. unless a previous appointment has been made.

Non-profit organizations established for canvassing, soliciting, or fundraising for the purpose of charitable organizations do not have to obtain a permit, but are required to register with the city clerk.
