Photo talk planned for Steeple Center
Rosemount Minnesota P.O. Box 192 / 312 Oak St. 55024

A picture is worth a thousand words, at the very least, to the person who took it. The place, the time, the situation, the mood all played into what the photographer was able to record with his or her camera.

The Canon Explorers of Light is an educational program sponsored by Canon USA. The program sends some of the most influential photographers and cinematographers into local communities to share their stories.

On Oct. 19 Adam Jones, a world renowned nature and travel photographer, will share stories about some of the pictures he’s taken. The Rosemount Area Arts Council and the St. Paul Camera Club partnered to host Canon Explorers of Light program at the Rosemount Steeple Center.

Twin Cities Camera Club Council chair Mark Frier said Jones will speak from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Steeple Center.

Jones is best known for his nature, travel and wildlife photos. According to Canon he is widely publish in magazines, posters, calendars and books.

Frier said Jones will offer up the thousand words that go into his pictures as he travels the world taking pictures. He added that the presentation is not a how-to but rather recollections of experiences.

RAAC programming chair John Loch said he believes the event will draw photographers from all over the Twin Cities. An invitation has been sent to all the camera clubs in the metro area.

Registration is required beforehand at

There is a $5 cover charge, but the event is free to students. All registrants will be entered into a drawing for door prizes.
