Josh Edwards sees music as an avenue to minister to people. And ministry is what’s in his heart.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t enjoy making music though. On Oct. 10 Edwards will release his first CD, “Here.” Edwards is the worship pastor at Lighthouse Christian Church in Rosemount.

Starting this spring, Edwards created the five song EP with the help of some friends and family. In June, Edwards travelled to San Jose, Calif. to work with his friend and former Community of Hope pastor Jason Miller. While there, the two recorded six songs. Edwards’ brother Beau helped with the project by providing some of the music.

“I think the funnest part of the project was working with my brother,” said Edwards.

Edwards came back and worked with Christian music producers Nate Sabin, David Ruybalid and David Thulin to finish up the project.

Completed, Edwards said it’s now time to introduce the CD to the world. Here includes the songs Never Abandoned, written by Beau Edwards; You Are Mine, written by Josh Edwards; Be Thou My Vision, a public domain song; To Every Generation, written by Jason Miller; and Here, written by Jason Miller.

The CD release party will be held Oct. 10 at Lighthouse Christian Church, 3285 144th St. W. The evening will include performances by Community of Hope youth pastor Nic Stevens, Nate Sabin and the Grace Place Choir. Edwards said there will be an acoustic segment at the end of the evening.

“I think it will be a fun night of getting into God’s presence,” said Edwards.

Doors will open at 6:30. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets can be purchase at Common Grounds, the coffee shop in Lighthouse Christian Church.

Edwards will have copies of Here available for $6.
