New contract approved for superintendent
Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Superintendent Jane Berenz got a raise from the school board Monday, and the promise of another one a year from now.
School board members approved a 2 percent raise for Berenz effective July 1. They also approved a new contract that will go into effect in July of 2015 and give her another 2 percent raise in its first year.
The raise that will take effect immediately brings Berenz’s salary to $199,757. It comes after the board completed its annual review of the superintendent’s performance.
“We were very, very happy with Jane,” board chair Rob Duchscher said. “She’s really accomplished everything we’ve asked her to do.”
In addition to a 2 percent raise in its first year, the contract that takes effect in 2015 will increase the district’s contribution to a 403(b) account to 6 percent of Berenz’s salary, up from 5 percent. It also increases the district’s contribution to health insurance coverage by 1 percent for 2015-16, 2 percent for 2016-17 and 2 percent for 2017-18.
“This should give the public confidence we’re going to continue to operate as we have been,” board member Joel Albright said. “We’ve had great academic outcomes.”
