Now out of their friendship and common bond a business is blossoming. The two 24-year-old Rosemount residents have pooled their resources and talents for fixing computers to start Magma PC.

"We do computer repairs and custom PC builds," said Hallquist of their business.

The repairs include any software or hardware issues that come up with a computer.

"We are problem solvers," said Hallquist.

As for the personal computer builds, Hallquist said they offer computers that fit their clients. They assess what their clients use their computer for and then build it to best accommodate those uses.

Hallquist said it's ideal for people who have special interests, like small business owners, photographers or graphic designers. He said they use products that have been proven trustworthy and are well respected in the computer industry.

"There are a lot more options for customers," said Hallquist about the benefits of having a computer custom built.

Magma PC also services the computers they build so clients don't have to go through the customer service hassles of bigger companies.

"We build it right here in America and are able to service computers easily," said Hallquist.

Both men have other jobs but hope as Magma grows a clientele they will be able to make it a full time venture.

"We want to generate enough income that we can open a location someday," said Hallquist. Currently they run Magma PC out of Hallquist's home.

Just a few months into starting Magma PC, Hallquist said the business is attracting customers and building relationships.

"It's neat to create revenue from this," said Hallquist.

Both men have been into computers their whole lives. Hallquist said for years both have helped family and friends with their computers and making money from it just makes it better.

Having gone back and forth with what the name should be, Hallquist said they narrowed down a list to two choices. He said they inevitably chose Magma because its hot and always changing just like the computer industry.
