Letter: It takes many volunteers to keep RAAA running
To the editor,
National Volunteer Week is April 15-21, and we at the Rosemount Area Athletic Association board of directors are proud and grateful to have an opportunity to thank the many volunteers who support us in the mission of creating athletic opportunities for youth in our community. I urge you to join me in thanking the hundreds of coaches, team coordinators, program directors, program board members and others that volunteer countless hours to the RAAA, our participants and their families.
Over the past year, almost 4,000 participants (ages 4-14) took advantage of one or more of our 15 athletic programs. Our programs continue to grow and are seeing record participant numbers in many. With this type of growth having a large and passionate volunteer corps is critical to our success. And as Carol Pettit says, "Volunteers don't just do the work -- they make it work." This comment is so true for our RAAA volunteers.
Finally, it is important to recognize the members of the board of directors who devote time to charting the course of the organization.
I ask that we all take time this week to seek out one of these volunteers and express our gratitude for their time and talent to making a successful and thriving RAAA.
RAAA board president
