It will be a busy weekend in Rosemount
Rosemount Minnesota P.O. Box 192 / 312 Oak St. 55024

It's easy sometimes to forget how much is going on in Rosemount. The city is so close to other, bigger cities. And those cities sometimes have other, bigger events.

But take a closer look -- start with the calendar on the back of this very newspaper -- and you're likely to find something to keep your interest no matter what your interests might be.

Consider this weekend. On Friday, the Rosemount Area Arts Council will offer its second murder mystery dinner theater. The event is a fundraiser that helps pay for other RAAC events, including the art classes and film festival held during Leprechaun Days. Ultimately, the RAAC would like to turn the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church into an arts center that would offer plays, classes and much more.

After getting your fill of food and fun on Friday night, you could start your Saturday with a pancake breakfast fundrasier for the Rosemount High School wrestling team. Pancake breakfasts and special dinners -- spaghetti, steak or who knows what else -- happen regularly in Rosemount. Any Rosemount resident could eat well while supporting local programs.

From there, you could move on to the library, a location that has had plenty to offer since it opened its doors earlier this year. On Saturday it will offer both a little bit of recreation and an opportunity to remember the country's fighting men and women.

The recreation comes in the form of National Gaming Day, an opportunity sit down, catch your breath and play a board game. The library will have many kinds of games available.

When you're done playing games, you can try your hand at making cards as part of Rosemount's Yellow Ribbon campaign. The library will provide addresses and pay for postage so they can be mailed someone serving in the military.

Once the card's in the mail, take a little time for shopping at the Our Savior Lutheran Church bazaar before heading over to the new Church of St. Joseph for some more game time. In this case, lay out your cards for some turkey Bingo. Have a good time and win your Thanksgiving dinner.

That's a pretty full weekend, and we haven't even gotten to Sunday.

Check it out. Even if you don't do everything on the calendar you're bound to find something you enjoy. And you don't even have to leave the city.
