ISD 196 to test SchoolConnects service on Monday night
Independent School District 196 is planning to make a test call of its new SchoolConnects notification service on the evening of Monday, Feb. 2. Parents or guardians of a District 196 student, should receive the recorded-message call from Superintendent John Currie.
The district is asking to for those involved not to call the number back. The SchoolConnects service is designed to deliver information to parents quickly in the event of a school schedule change or any other emergency where the district or an individual school needs to contact parents immediately.
The call on the evening of Feb. 2 will be sent to phone numbers currently in the district's student information system. These numbers were previously provided to the schools by parents and guardians. The message will also be sent to any email addresses connected to the child's information. Part of the process of implementing this new communications tool is to update the contact information.
After Feb. 2, if you confirm that no one in your household received the call, call the district at (651) 423-7724 during business hours. Parents can call this same number if they received the call on Feb. 2 and do not want to receive future SchoolConnects calls, including emergency notifications.
Parents can review and update their family's contact information themselves by using the SchoolView portal which many families already use. For information on how to update contact information in SchoolView, as well as more information on the new SchoolConnects notification service, go to the front page of the district website at www.district196.org.
