Irish swimmers take fifth at state
The Rosemount boys swimming and diving team scored 150.5 points to take fifth in last weekends Class AA state swimming and diving meet. Edina defended its team title with 307 points.
Senior Devon Meeks had the team's best finish, taking first in the 40 freestyle in 20.84 seconds. Meeks also finished second in the 100 backstroke in 49.83 and was a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that finished second. Also on that team were Max Hubard, Connor Manning and Luke Dowell.
The 200 medley relay team of Meeks, Hubbard, Jacob Stern and Tony Spiel finished third.
Hubbard took fifth in the 50 freestyle and seventh in the 100 freestyle.
Stern finished ninth in the 100 breaststroke. Braden McCormack took eleventh in the 100 backstroke and David Officer finished 16th in the 100 butterfly.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Manning, Spiel, Nick Jeffrey and Michael Young finished 14th.
