Irish swim team takes seventh at state
The Rosemount boys swim and dive team got two second places and a pair of other championship finishes on the way to a seventh-place finish at this weekend's state meet.
Minnetonka won the meet with 253.5 team points; Rosemount had 127.
The Irish got a second place finish in the meet's first event, the 200 medley relay. The team of Braden McCormack, Jacob Stern, Luke Dowell and Connor Manning finished in 1:35.75, less than a second behind winner Eden Prairie. Stern also finished second in the 100 breaststroke, turning in a time of 58.35 seconds.
Rosemount got a fifth place finish from the 200 freestyle relay team of Dowell, Manning, Stern and David Baker and a seventh place finish from the 400 freestyle relay team of Manning, Baker, Tyler Lawson and Sheldon Hatlen.
In other events, Stern took fifth in the consolation final of the 200 individual medley; Manning took fourth in the consolation final of the 50 freestyle; Dowell took second in the consolation final of the 100 butterfly; Baker took third in the consolation final of the 100 freestyle; and Andrew Urness took seventh in the consolation final of the 500 freestyle.
Baker was the only senior competing for the Irish at the state meet.
